Myofascial pain is a common, yet often misunderstood issue that may contribute to chronic pain syndromes such as fibromyalgia. In this course, explore how to palpate, assess, and release trigger points to relieve myofascial pain. Learn how to differentiate trigger points from adhesions, recognize when a trigger point has been successfully released, and implement pre- and post- techniques to support lasting relief for your clients.
At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Identify a myofascial trigger point and differentiate it from an adhesion or other restriction
- Assess for relevant pain referral patterns using specific palpation
- Perform scientific Trigger Point Release using the feedback and tactile methods
- Apply pre and post techniques to minimize soreness and optimize pain reduction
- Explain to clients how and why trigger points develop, and how to perform self-care between sessions
