Massage therapists are trained to alleviate physical pain, but don't always feel equipped to handle the intense emotional pain associated with loss. In this video course, we will discuss the various types of loss your clients may experience and how to identify coping behaviors. We will also explore appropriate conversation and ethics, massage session protocols, and how aromatherapy may help. Plus, gain self-care and marketing tips for yourself and your massage practice.
At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Understand the definition of grief
- Learn about the hormones produced by grief & their effects on our bodies
- Be able to converse with a client who is grieving appropriately
- Confidently complete a massage treatment with an emotional client who has experienced loss
- Understand the importance of self care following grief work
