When you finish this course, you will be able to:
- Discuss the guiding principles to create a safe, comforting and supportive massage session plan for people experiencing chronic pain;
- Describe and outline pain relief strategies that help affect the nervous system and create parasympathetic dominance for clients;
- Cite examples of home care skills that a client can learn to help with anxiety or sleep;
- Assess when to offer hot and cold therapies that enhance home care and injury recovery.
Pete Whitridge, BA, LMT has been a licensed massage therapist since 1988. He is a founder and Past President of the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education (AFMTE) and has dedicated his career to helping establish high standards in massage therapy education. Pete has served as Chair of the Florida Board of Massage Therapy and frequently teaches at conventions and meetings throughout the U.S. In 2016, he was inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame.
