This course underlines the fact that massage therapists may be the first line of defense in detecting skin cancer lesions for many of their clients. Massage therapists may be the only ones to view their clients’ backs and a knowledge of how skin cancer occurs and how to recognize it may save a client’s life. Amanda Friedrichs, M.D., specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the many forms of skin cancer, acne, eczema and psoriasis. She volunteers with the American Academy of Dermatology and educates the public about the importance of skin cancer prevention and early detection.
